Service Description
Learn the incredible art of English Paper Piecing with Johanna Masko! A great choice for precise, geometric patchwork, English Paper Piecing is completely sewn by hand. This fun, take-it-anywhere technique shows off clever fussy cuts and is a beautiful way to use your favourite scraps. In addition to traditional hexagons, this method works equally well for diamonds, half-hexagons, jewel shapes and more. This 3 hour workshop is tailored for all levels of sewing experience. Newbies and veterans alike will benefit from the skills taught in this fun class. A sewing machine is not required. MATERIAL REQUIREMENTS: Fabric: • Assorted scraps of quilting cotton fabric at least 3” square and/or Fat Quarters (we will be working on a “rosette” with 7 patches) • Bring as many scraps as you’d like – the more the merrier! Notions: • Template plastic or other thin plastic (dollar store placemat), approx. 6” x 6” • Glue stick (office supply type) • Paper scissors • Full sized stapler (not a mini version) and staples • Claw-style staple remover • Single hole punch • Fabric scissors and snippy scissors • Hand sewing needle • Thread to match fabrics • Thimble and/or needle threader, if desired • Mechanical pencil • White freezer paper (provided by instructor) With expert guidance and hands-on practice, you'll elevate your sewing and quilting skills to the next level by mastering this beautiful and useful technique. A sewing machine will be not used in this workshop. The classroom is located upstairs above the Sewing Machine Sales & Repair Centre. Please note The Sewing School is accessible by stairs only. Starting date of class is dependent upon required number of students (6). Should minimum student enrollment not be met, class dates may be changed and students will be informed ahead of time. Cancellations will not be accepted within 10 days of class starting date. NO MAKEUP CLASSES ARE GIVEN SO PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU ARE AVAILABLE BEFORE REGISTERING FOR A CLASS! Thank you and Happy Sewing!
