Coat & Jacket Making Class – From Quilt to Couture Welcome to our newest class in our lineup of Garment making sewing classes in Toronto! The amazingly talented Jessica of J. Zolis-Peck Stitchcraft (@jzp.stitchcraft fame) joins us to lead you through this course. Turn a quilt or blanket into a one-of-a-kind garment in this hands-on multi session course. Students will use a professional PDF pattern (included in the class) to create either a coat or jacket while building essential garment-making skills. What you’ll learn: -How to read and work with a PDF sewing pattern -Garment construction techniques, including sizing, sewing pockets, working with binding, setting in sleeves, and more -Fitting techniques for a polished, comfortable result -Skills for working with quilted or heavier fabrics -Finishing details to give your coat or jacket a professional look Requirements: Some prior sewing experience is required (this is not a beginner class but is friendly for confident beginners and intermediate sewists). Students should be comfortable threading and operating a sewing machine and sewing basic seams. You’ll leave the class with a custom coat or jacket and new garment-making skills to apply to future projects. Sewing machine is required - bring yours or use one of ours! The classroom is located upstairs above the Sewing Machine Sales & Repair Centre. Please note The Sewing School is accessible by stairs only. Starting date of class is dependent upon required number of students (6). Should minimum student enrollment not be met, class dates may be changed and students will be informed ahead of time.
