Service Description

Welcome to our beginner 'Garment Sewing' class! This 4-week course is designed for beginner sewists who want to learn how to make clothes! PJ pants are the ideal next step after you take our Sewing Machine Basics or Beginner Sewing 2-Part Class. You will learn to read and cut a pattern, make adjustments to tailor it perfectly to your body and sew a pair of pajama pants. This is a course for everyone, with three pattern options to choose from (long pants, Bermuda shorts length, or shorts). During this four week course, you will continue to learn how to operate a sewing machine, improve your essential sewing techniques, learn to read and adjust a pattern, and sew a custom fit pair of pajamas pants. With step-by-step guidance from your teacher and a small class size, you will gain confidence in your sewing abilities. We will teach you how to read and interpret a sewing pattern, make adjustments to your exact fit, and cut it out. You will learn the fundamentals of sewing a waistband, pockets, hemming, ease, seam allowance and many more useful skills and techniques that you can apply to future garment making projects. A paper pattern for this project will be provided and is included in the course fee. You will be required to purchase and pre-wash your fabric and bring it to the first class. A Required Materials list will be emailed to you after registration. You can borrow a classroom sewing machine or bring your own, provided you are comfortable with threading it and sewing a straight line. Course Prerequisite: Sewing Machine Basics for Beginners, Beginner Sewing 2-Part Class, or Learn Your Machine.
