Quilting for Beginners: Intro to Quilting with Johanna Masko This course is for sewing enthusiasts who want to dip their toes into quilting for the first time. This fast and easy baby quilt project is sure to become your go-to gift for the new little ones in your life. The scaled-up proportions of a classic “Economy Block” make this quilt top quick to assemble, and a simplified edge treatment leaves lots of time to spend on your quilting. Our short, 3-part class is a perfect entry project into the beautiful world of quilts! ***This class will run for 3 weeks on Monday evenings from 6:00pm - 9:00pm *** Class 1: Monday November 16th, 2026 Class 2: Monday November 23rd, 2026 Class 3: Monday November 30th, 2026 You can see more of Johanna's work here: https://www.johannamasko.com/ MATERIAL REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS CLASS: -0.6m for centre square -0.6m for inside triangles -0.6m for corner triangles -1.2m for backing/edges (for class 2) -Approx. 45” square of thin cotton batting (for class 2) -Neutral coloured thread -Fabric scissors -Pencil -Quilters Straight pins (yellow ball headed) -Quilter’s basting pins (about 200) (for class 2) -Sewing machine and walking foot (or borrow a studio machine during class time) A sewing machine with a walking foot is required for this class. All notions can be purchased from the Sewing Machine Sales & Repair Centre with a 15% student discount. Thank you and Happy Sewing!
