Service Description

Welcome to a sewing class like no other. In this 6 week course, your instructor Olena, a classically trained seamstress, will help you finish your sewing projects. This is an open form class where you have unlimited access to your teacher's brain and skills. Bring in the projects you're stuck on, unfinished garments, a new paper pattern you want to make or any other sewing projects that you need a little help on. With our guidance, you can learn the following skills: Hemming, Alterations, Fashion Finishing Techniques, Seams, Pockets, Applying Plackets, Setting In Sleeves, Serging, Applying Darts, Adjusting Necklines, and anything else you want to learn. In this amazing class you are not limited to following a pattern or any one project. This is your chance to dive deep into sewing and level up your skills in a small class size. Bring your sewing machine and your projects and let us help you finish them professionally! To get the most out of this class, some sewing experience is strongly recommended. If you're a beginner looking to start your sewing journey, check out one of our Beginner Sewing Classes. **This course will run on Tuesday afternoons from 12:00pm -2:30pm for 6 weeks** Class 1: Tuesday September 15th Class 2: Tuesday September 22nd Class 3: Tuesday September 29th Class 4: Tuesday October 6th Class 5: Tuesday October 13th Class 6: Tuesday October 20th 2.5 hours per class x 6 classes = 15 hours total instruction In this special open format class, you are welcome to bring any sewing project you want! You can bring a paper pattern, a work in progress, home décor sewing or anything else you need help with or want to learn. Please note in this class we do not teach pattern drafting. REQUIRED MATERIALS LIST: • Sewing machine • Pattern or Project of choice • Fabric (type and quantity as per your chosen pattern) • Measuring tape • Pins • Good Scissors • Hem gauge • Marking chalk • Thread • Small seam ripper • Hand sewing needles • Seam guide for the machine (optional) • Tracing wheel* • Tracing paper* *if working with a pattern Students can purchase required notions (scissors, thread, rulers, marking pens etc) from the Sewing Machine Sales & Repair Centre store with a 15% student discount. Cancellation Policy

The classroom is located upstairs above the Sewing Machine Sales & Repair Centre. Please note The Sewing School is accessible by stairs only. Starting date of class is dependent upon required number of students (6). Should minimum student enrollment not be met, class dates may be changed and students will be informed ahead of time. Cancellations will not be accepted within 10 days of class starting date. NO MAKEUP CLASSES ARE GIVEN SO PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU ARE AVAILABLE BEFORE REGISTERING FOR A CLASS!
